Maastricht, Mar 11–14, 2026
Application deadline: Jan 11, 2026

The Friends of the Cultural Foundation of the German Federal States are awarding five travel grants to the TEFAF art fair in Maastricht.
The Friends of the Cultural Foundation of the German Federal States are enabling curators of German museums who are at the beginning of their careers to visit the TEFAF art fair in Maastricht from March 11 to 14, 2026, and are awarding five travel grants.
Experienced museum curators will accompany the scholarship recipients to the fair, providing insights into the international art market, examining individual objects on offer in detail, and facilitating discussions with art dealers. Meetings with the international scholarship program of TEFAF will offer opportunities for professional exchange. TEFAF is one of the world's most important art fairs. The travel grants are intended to provide access to the art market that is often unavailable in the daily work of museums.
Successful applicants will have their travel and accommodation expenses covered, as well as tickets to the trade fair and a travel allowance. The scholarship recipients will record their impressions in a short final report.

Founded in 1988, the Cultural Foundation of the German Federal States (Kulturstiftung der Länder) particularly promotes the acquisition of nationally valuable cultural assets for museums, libraries, and archives. Since its establishment in 1999, the Foundation's Friends Association, comprised of prominent figures from business, industry, culture, and academia, has actively supported the Foundation's objectives. As the first nationwide Friends Association, it supports the restoration of museum exhibits and, through the awarding of travel grants, the professional development of museum staff.
