Call for Proposals: Galerie Nord Exhibition Programme, Berlin-Moabit

The District Mayor of Mitte, Stefanie Remlinger, announces:

The Department of Art, Culture, and History of the District Office of Mitte is launching an expression of interest procedure for the operation of part of the exhibition space at the renowned Galerie Nord, located at Turmstraße 75, 10551 Berlin.

With this initiative, the Mitte district of Berlin aims to support the further development of Galerie Nord in order to ensure a diverse, inclusive, and forward-looking art program. Strengthening the gallery’s ties to the local art and cultural scene is just as important as fostering regional, national, and international networking and positioning. The aim is to present current artistic developments in the Moabit district while simultaneously providing impulses for art education and cultural exchange within the house and the neighborhood.

To address current challenges in the cultural sector and the shortage of exhibition spaces in Berlin, the location at Turmstraße is being restructured to expand its offerings for artists. In addition, a new municipal project space will be created there.

For over 30 years, Galerie Nord – currently located at Turmstraße 75 and previously known as Obere Galerie at Lützowplatz – has offered especially emerging artists the opportunity to present their work to a broad audience, laying the foundation for professional careers.

The funding includes:• Free use of an exhibition space and additional functional rooms (approx. 207 m²) in the Brüder-Grimm-Haus at Turmstraße 75• A project grant of €60,500 gross for the year 2026 to support exhibition operations in these rooms.

This call for applications is subject to the availability of budgetary funds. Handover of the premises is scheduled for March 1, 2026.The application deadline is July 21, 2025.

Written inquiries regarding the procedure can be submitted until June 16, 2025. Answers to all questions received will be published on June 19, 2025.A site visit of the gallery spaces will take place on June 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM.

Applications will be reviewed by an interdisciplinary and independent expert jury, which will issue a funding recommendation. The jury will consist of at least five members with expertise in the fields of art, exhibition production, and the socio-spatial context of Moabit.
