National and international writers, curators, and artistic researchers are eligible to apply. Applications are open to individuals interested in pursuing research, curatorial and critical writing opportunities related to the region of Stavanger, Norway. The Residency in Art Writing is a self-driven programme organised by Contemporary Art Stavanger (CAS), and offers individuals a unique opportunity to delve into independent research, writing, and criticism based around Stavanger and the surrounding region. Research can be broadly focused on surveying the regional art scene, or targeted towards a specific area of interest. During the residency, curators and writers will be welcome to conduct studio, gallery, and institutional visits organised in collaboration with CAS, and will have the possibility of holding workshops and/or public presentations for the local community. Curators and writers are free from specific requirements during the residency period, however the resident will be asked to submit at least two articles for publication on CAS in the months following the residency. Articles may include essays, transcribed lectures, interviews, reviews, research findings, and/or other texts relating to the resident’s activities in Stavanger.
