The Cour de France association provides financial support for the publication of two theses per year, with a grant of €3,000 per thesis. Theses can cover all disciplines and address a period from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. They must be in French.
The court does not have to be the main subject of the thesis. It can focus on a theme that indirectly affects the court sphere, for example, through the fate of a family whose members stayed at court, the patronage of a member of the court, a political or diplomatic event that had repercussions on the royal entourage, or an issue concerning the representation and functioning of the monarchy.
Terms and conditions:
Theses must have been defended between July 15, 2024 and July 15, 2025.
Deadline for submitting applications: September 15, 2025
Awarding of the prize: January 2026
The winners will present their thesis at the Cour de France.fr general meeting which takes place at the beginning of February.
The application file consists of the following elements: Doctorate with appendices (in PDF format), the defense report, a summary of the thesis of 5000 characters, including spaces (in Word format) and the application form (to be downloaded from the website: https://cour-de-france.fr/cour-de-france-fr/soutien-aux-doctorants/prix-cour-de-france-fr/ ).
