New Curators is a free and paid year-long curatorial training programme for aspiring curators from structurally disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds. The programme is now open for applications, and we are looking for 10-12 curators to join our fourth cohort in January 2027. We welcome applications from anywhere in the world. However, we do have specific eligibility criteria.

Our course is designed to equip aspiring curators of contemporary art with the knowledge, practical skills, networks and confidence needed to thrive in the art world. The programme is divided into five strands:

1. Academic seminars in curatorial theory and practice, and art history

2. Skills training sessions covering essential topics such as writing for different audiences, public speaking, budgeting and fundraising

3. Meetings with a wide range of curators, artists and arts professionals and regular studio, gallery and museum visits in the UK and internationally

4. Extensive practical experience co-curating a contemporary art exhibition and contributing to devising and delivering a related catalogue and public programme

5. Coaching and mentorship
