Garage Gallery: Visual Arts Residency for Artists and Curators (Czech Republic)

Garage Gallery’s international residency for artists and curators is open to any artist who does not have a permanent residence in Prague. The residency will end with a final exhibition of the selected applicant’s project, and is open for solo or duo applications due to the size of the offered accommodation. The next residency will run from 1 July – 15 September 2023, divided into a two-month residency followed by two weeks of installation and preparation for an exhibition at the gallery starting in mid September 2023. Garage Gallery offers:

  • A stipend of 2000 euros (including travel and living costs) + installation budget (approx. 500 euros).

  • Accommodation (for max. 2 people).

  • PR & promotion on social media (professional photography of the installation, posting on online curated platforms, video reports, articles etc.).

  • Technical support and installation assistance for the final show.

The organisers ask each resident to leave one art piece in the gallery’s collection.


ENG/ Since 2018 Garage Gallery has been hosting an international residency for artists and curators who prepare a final presentation of their work together with the exhibition after the residency. We provide the selected residents with accommodation and partial funding for their work so that they can fully commit to their planned project. By inviting international artists, we aim to create a meaningful exchange of experiences and creative perspectives.

HOW TO APPLY INTERNATIONAL RESIDENCY AT GARAGE GALLERY 2023 Our residency is open to any artist who does not have a permanent residence in Prague. Are you interested in discovering the local scene and participating in the gallery's residency program during July/August of 2023? The residency will end with a final exhibition of the selected applicant's project. The residency is for one or two individuals due to the size of the offered accommodation. The call is open to:

  • international artists and art collectives working in any medium Duration: The residency will run from 1st of July till September 15th 2023. Divided into a two month long residency and two weeks of installation and preparation for the upcoming exhibition which will take place in the gallery starting in mid September 2023. What we offer:

  • The selected candidate will get a stipend of 2 000 euros (including travel and living costs) + installation budget (approx. 500 euros)

  • Accommodation (for max. 2 people)

Residency conditions: The residency includes a final presentation of the artist’s work in the form of a final exhibition in Garage Gallery. We ask each resident to leave one art piece in the gallery’s collection. Accommodation information: We offer a free residential space for max. 2 people above the gallery space. The apartment is furnished, has two separate small bedrooms (one single and one double bed), a fully equipped kitchen and a washing machine. The shared bathroom is accessible from the hall.
