Academy in Exile is pleased to announce its 2021–22 artist in residence program with three fellowships of three months each for a filmmaker/videographer, sound artist, and visual artist to work on the theme of Fixing What’s Broken.
Academy in Exile invites applications for the 3-month residency fellowships in Berlin. Eligible are cultural producers who advocate on behalf of human rights, democracy, and the pursuit of free expression and/or who have been displaced because of their professional work.
The three artists in residence, funded by a grant from the Allianz Kulturstiftung, will be associated with Academy in Exile’s Critical Thinking Program at the Freie Universität Berlin. Applications will be assessed by members of the Academy in Exile Team and an international jury, and evaluated according to artistic merit, risk assessment, civil society advocacy, and willingness to engage with the fellows and program offerings of Academy in Exile.
