Stipend: €350 per week (€3,500 in total)

Travel funding: Basic return transportation to and from Cassis covered; advance-booked economy airfare covered where applicable

Accommodation: Furnished apartment with a fully equipped kitchen provided

Facilities: Reference library, music/conference room, open-air theatre, artist’s studio with darkroom, and composer’s studio with piano

The Camargo Foundation invites applications for the 2027–2028 edition of its flagship residency programme. Established in 1971 by Jerome Hill, the Camargo Fellowship has supported more than 1,500 residents worldwide.

The programme offers established and mid-career artists, scholars and thinkers from diverse backgrounds a 10-week residency dedicated to research, experimentation and reflection. Residencies will take place in autumn 2027 and spring 2028.

Fellowship

The Camargo Fellowship provides residents with the time, setting and conditions needed to undertake independent and rigorous creative or research-based work.

The programme aims to foster exchange across different fields of knowledge while supporting a wide range of practices, perspectives, research themes and creative approaches.

Important Changes to the Application Process

The Camargo Foundation has announced that this will, until further notice, be the final Camargo Fellowship selected through a public open call.

Beginning in July 2027, the Foundation plans to introduce a new selection process that will no longer be based on an open call. The change is intended to broaden the diversity of residents and welcome a wider range of practices, perspectives and research interests.

Artists, scholars and thinkers interested in undertaking a residency in autumn 2027 or spring 2028 are therefore strongly encouraged to apply through the current call.
